Types of Tutoring Sessions

Some of our geometry books to aid in tutoring college courses

Personal Tutoring

Personal Tutoring sessions can be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Personal sessions are best conducted routinely to ensure you can utilize the study cycle (defined in our first session). A personalized curriculum and study plan will be created with you. I encourage you to follow up with more appointments or through drop-in tutoring to keep you on track. These sessions are not just about helping you with math. We will work together to also teach you effective study strategies that are unique to your needs.

Group Tutoring

Group Tutoring sessions can be conducted with up to four students. All students in the group must be in the same subject, and ideally the same class section. Because group study is more effective for some than personalized tutoring sessions, we need to ensure we all have a common goal to obtain optimal results for the group. Group sessions are likely best conducted spontaneously depending on the group's needs. This session would be ideal for group project assignments, difficult homework assignments, or broad topic questions and exam reviews. I highly recommend this session for AP courses which generally require many hours are spent studying for the big exam.

Drop-in Tutoring

While working for Washington State University, I only ever hosted drop-in tutoring sessions. I learned that sometimes, students might have a quick question that needs answered, or you might just need a quiet place to study where help is readily available as you work through your difficult homework assignment. Drop-in services are available at your convenience. You can stay as short as 20 minutes, or as long as three hours. To avoid a full office, I am limited to three students at a time in this setting, ensuring I can rotate between students since everyone will not necessarily be working on the same subjects. No preparation is required, just show up and get the help you need. Please check the Drop-in Sessions tab to see availability.
